Draco was really excited about his first magic lesson. He had been looking forward to it ever since he had sat with Gizel after breakfast talking about what to see in the city. As it turned out, the elven maiden knew an unusually large amount about the attractions offered by the city of mages. Throughout, she mainly advised him to stick with his friends on his first visit and try not to get lost. She also tossed around a few ideas for places to visit.

Now, however, Draco was waiting in his master's study until they started their first lesson. Darius had brought some thick leather-bound books and placed them on the table in front of the dragon.

-I think these will be adequate as a starting point.- The mage said and took a seat opposite his apprentice.- Let's start with some basics though.- He smiled and encouraged Draco to sit more comfortably.- Any magic is essentially a form of energy manipulation. It doesn't matter if we're talking about elemental power, the power of light, or Azgardian silver magic. Each of these comes down to the principle of mana manipulation, and the incantations from these systems provide support in creating an image of the end result or are a sub-image imposed by the particular field of magic. Often the incantations are long and intricate, so they are shortened by replacing words or even whole sentences with patterns, geometric figures, runic signs from extinct languages or symbols known only to initiates. For this reason, there are many forms of spell writing, but they can be divided into three basic categories.- With every word Darius spoke, the mage began to speak with greater devotion, as if he was only just finding out for himself how much joy the transmission of knowledge could bring.- The first type, being the simplest and weakest, is thought magic.
