Signs of Death
On Undaar, the gods are not distant legends. They appear before mortals, mete out punishment, and leave behind signs which meaning is rarely obvious.
Twelve-year-old Einar Anson has five brothers and a home he would never trade for anything. Though, as a Toinen, he differs from the Ytrens of the Ring Islands, but jarl of Stairon and his family have always treated him as one of their own. His world changes with the arrival of an imperial ship. A chance encounter brings the boy before the gods, where he catches the attention of Thanatos himself.
The gift of the god of Death binds Einar to an extraordinary companion and confronts him with a mystery that neither priests nor druids can fully explain. Before the boy can understand what he has truly received, Fate sets him on the road. The journey becomes a brutal trial, leaving marks far deeper than scars.
Far from his family, Einar will have to find his place among strangers, learn to trust new allies, and discover how much he is willing to sacrifice to protect them. Meanwhile, the specter of war looms over the Empire, and the followers of corrupted gods emerge from hiding. In such times, even the gods can no longer remain silent.
Not every sign heralds the end. Some are left by Death itself and only he knows where they lead.
